Amazon had a better price than E-bay for what I needed. I didn't think it was necessary to buy a full version of Home Premium because I already had Home Basic. I was looking for an update for the OS of my Vaio because Vista Home Basic had been mistakenly purchased for me. My PC's website suggested that I upgrade to Vista Home Premium to take full advantage of the OS.
The product was received faster than any other item I have ordered from Amazon in the past and worked without any problems.
Service Pack 1 solved alot of issues as did many other software updates. Windows Vista has come a long way. I highly recommend this version due to the fact it is the version that is most reasonably priced with all the major bells and whistles. Once you have poured yourself into learning what the software can do, then I assure you that you won't go back to XP. When it was first released like every other OS it was a problem especially with all of your Window XP software. Now, over a year later I feel as if Vista has matured and there have been many fixes and software updates making it better than XP, in my opinion.
Programs start in less than a second most of the time. If you have 2 or more CPU's they won't be used.
You just have to select do not upgrade the first time, then upgrade that installation. This upgrade version can be installed without a previous OS on the drive.
I Have found Vista to be a great OS so far. You have to transfer files to a Basic Disk to use them.
Don't Slipstream SP1 as it will probably cause errors. It is extremely fast compared to XP.
The only problems I have had are some minor driver issues, and any version but Ultimate or Enterprise is not compatible with XP's Dynamic Disks.
While some of it's features are kinda neat it's not worth the hassle. Vista is horrible. Stay away if you have a choice. I just bought a copy of XP Pro and will be redoing my OS tonight. It sucks up free hard-drive space like it's going out of style. After continiously getting the low space error I was able to clear the disk partition to 2.3 gig free and within hours it was down to 1/2 a gig for no reason.
